Presidente Abinader inaugura Liceo Experimental Prof. Carlos McKinney de la UASD en Baní
Baní, Peravia.- El presidente Luis Abinader, acompañado del ministro de Educación, Ángel Hernández, inauguró el Liceo Experimental Prof. Carlos McKinney de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), en el sector Pueblo Nuevo del municipio Baní, de esta provincia.
Durante su discurso central, el rector de la UASD, Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, expresó su agradecimiento por el compromiso del presidente de la República de rehabilitar dichas instalaciones, las cuales habían permanecido abandonadas durante 12 años.
Beltrán Crisóstomo también anunció que el presidente Abinader dispuso la asignación de una partida complementaria para pago del sueldo 14 para servidores docentes, administrativos y jubilados.
Asimismo, manifestó que este sueldo se dará por primera vez en la historia de la Universidad Primada de América.
«El viernes, cerca de la 5 de la tarde, llamo a Eilyn y le digo yo quiero que hablemos con el presidente para saber que vamos a hacer con el salario 14 y entonces lo llamó y le preguntamos qué vamos a hacer con eso y el presidente inmediatamente dijo anuncia que lo vamos a dar», expresó Beltrán, emocionado.

También subrayó que este centro es el «quinto de su tipo inaugurado en esta gestión, el cual rinde homenaje al honorable ciudadano Carlos McKinney, cuyas contribuciones al béisbol y la docencia dejaron una huella significativa en Baní», y que la misma proporcionará un entorno propicio para que los estudiantes de educación realicen sus prácticas preprofesionales, fortaleciendo la conexión entre teoría y práctica.
«El liceo no sólo revitaliza un espacio olvidado, sino que también facilita a los bachilleres el acceso directo a programas de estudio en la UASD, sin necesidad de cursar el ciclo básico, lo que reduce el tiempo de graduación», reveló Beltrán, ante la presencia de autoridades gubernamentales, estudiantes, maestros, funcionarios administrativos de la casa de estudios superiores y familiares del recordado ex pelotero y profesor de generaciones Carlos McKinney.
El rector de la UASD reafirmó la importancia de la colaboración entre el Estado y la UASD para acercar la academia a la comunidad.
La inauguración se lleva a cabo apenas unos días después de inaugurado el Liceo Experimental María Mercedes López López, ubicado en Pedro Brand, Santo Domingo Oeste. En ese sentido, dijo que se espera la entrega de 20 liceos experimentales en todo el territorio nacional. En relación con la finalización de la ciudad universitaria de dicha provincia, se tiene planificado concluir en el primer trimestre del año 2024.
También anunció la inauguración de un liceo experimental y la extensión de la UASD en Moca, provincia Espaillat.
Pablo Mckinney destaca cualidades de su padre
Mientras que, el destacado comunicador, Pablo McKinney tuvo a su cargo leer la semblanza de su padre, en nombre de la familia, abordando su vida docente, deportiva y musica , al señalar sus cualidades profesionales y de quien dijo sentirse muy emocionado, orgulloso y honrado, al recordar a su padre en aquellos tiempos en las aulas, y la gran valoración que tiene el pueblo de Baní al tiempo de destacar la gran labor que realizó en beneficio de la comunidad.
El comunicador destacó que el profesor Carlos McKinney fue para la educación, el deporte y la música del pueblo de Baní, lo que para el país representó el ejercicio ético, honesto y transparente de la política del muy admirado doctor José Rafael Abinader.
Añadió que: “Por algo cierto, señor presidente, se ha dicho siempre que un hombre verdaderamente rico es aquel cuyos hijos corren a sus brazos sabiendo que tiene las manos vacías”
18 nuevas aulas en beneficio de más de 630 estudiantes
La nueva infraestructura escolar beneficiará a 630 estudiantes y aportará 18 nuevas aulas al sistema educativo nacional y contará con dos laboratorios de ciencias y de cómputos.
El liceo posee áreas de dirección, subdirección, salón de profesores, recepción, técnicos, enfermería, aula virtual, salón multiuso, canchas mixtas, graderías, depósito, cocina, comedor, archivo, baños, cisterna, área cívica y patio, entre otras amenidades.
En nombre de los estudiantes habló Lorenny Polanco y la bendición estuvo a cargo del obispo de Baní, Faustino Burgos.
En Peravia estuvieron presentes, la gobernadora Yadira Báez; el alcalde Santo Ramírez; el senador Milcíades Franjul; el diputado Julito Furcal y la maestra Luz del Alba Dirocié, directora de la UASD-Centro Baní; vicerrectores, decanos, directores generales y demás funcionarios.
